Connecticut AED Law - Senate Bill 318 (SB 318)

The State of Connecticut has issued an AED Law that requires AED owners to register the AED.  The Connecticut AED Law states the following:

"Sec. 3. (NEW) (a) Any person in possession of an automatic external defibrillator shall provide notice of the location of such defibrillator to the Office of Emergency Medical Services."

Connecticut Fitness Club AED Law - Bill 186 (B 186)

The State of Connecticut has issued an AED Law that requires fitness clubs to have an AED on site in case of an emergency.  The Connecticut Fitness Club AED Law states the following:

"(A) (i) provide and maintain in a central location on the premises of the health club at least one automatic external defibrillator, as defined in section 19a-175, and (ii) make such central location known and accessible to employees of such health club, (B) ensure that at least one employee is on the premises of such health club during staffed business hours who is trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automatic external defibrillator in accordance with the standards set forth by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, (C) maintain and test the automatic external defibrillator in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines, and (D) promptly notify a local emergency medical services provider after each use of such automatic external defibrillator;"

Connecticut School AED Law - Senate Bill 981 (SB 981)

The State of Connecticut has issue an AED law that requires schools to have an AED on site and to have individuals trained to use the AED.  The Connecticut School AED Law states the following:

"Section 1. (NEW) () (a) On and after July 1, 2010, subject to the provisions of subsection (d) of this section, each local and regional board of education shall have at each school under the board's jurisdiction: (1) An automatic external defibrillator; and (2) school personnel trained in the operation of such automatic external defibrillator and the use of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The automatic external defibrillator and school personnel trained in the operation of an automatic external defibrillator and the use of cardiopulmonary resuscitation shall be accessible during the school's normal operational hours, during school-sponsored athletic practices and athletic events taking place on school grounds and during school sponsored events not occurring during the normal operational hours of the school."

Connecticut Public Facilities AED Law - House Bill 5627(HB5627)

Section 1. (Effective from passage) The Department of Public Health shall develop recommendations that maximize community access to automatic external defibrillators. Such recommendations shall include strategies to (1) develop public access to defibrillation training programs, (2) utilize the existing emergency medical service agencies, and (3) provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automatic external defibrillation to cardiac arrest victims in public settings, including, but not limited to, state facilities, municipal facilities and mass public gatherings. The Commissioner of Public Health shall report, in accordance with section 11-4a of the general statutes, on the recommendations to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to public health on or before January 1, 2004.
