Kansas AED Law - Senate Bill 102 (SB 102)

The State of Kansas has enacted an AED Law that requires owners of an AED to follow certain rules and regulations when owning an AED.  The Kansas AED Law states the following:

"(b)Pursuant to the provisions of this subsection, persons or entities which purchase or otherwise acquire an automated external defibrillator shall notify the emergency medical service which operates in the geographic area of the location of the automated external defibrillator. Persons or entities acquiring an automatic electronic defibrillator shall notify the emergency medical service providing local service on forms developed and provided by the emergency medical services board."

Kansas Good Samaritan Law - Senate Bill 102 (SB 102)

The State of Kansas has created a Good Samaritan Law that protects individuals from liability when aiding an victim during an emergency.  The Kansas Good Samaritan Law states the following:

"(1) Any person in good faith renders emergency care or treatment by the use of or provision of an automated external defibrillator shall not be held liable for any civil damages as a result of such care or treatment or as a result of any act or failure to act in providing or arranging further medical treatment where the person acts as an ordinary reasonably prudent person would have acted under the same or similar circumstances."
